So… I Broke Production
No matter how experienced you are, you will eventually break something in production. What really tests you is what happens after the fix, when everyone else has moved on and you haven’t.
In this talk, I’ll share what happened when I changed one parameter in one file. It shipped, it crashed for our clients, and it was fixed within a day. Nobody got angry at me. I was the only one who couldn’t let it go.
Failed deploys happen all the time in big tech, and we all hear about the outage. The question nobody ever asks: How was the rest of the week for the person who pushed it?
